Rossendale
Modern Rosendale is a blend of rural beauty and urban charm situated a little over 20 kilometres north of Manchester. Also known as the Golden Valley, it is one of the areas where industrial revolution first flourished. Its climate supported the old watermill-driven industries of wool and cotton. The Waterfoot area hosts a considerable number of artists who have studios in the vicinity. During the medieval era, Rossendale was considered as a hunting reserve being mainly forested.
